Residents have previously been told parking on the median strip between the trees was not allowed.
However, the visitors could hardly be blamed as no signs were visible to show parking was banned in this area.
Nor did the rangers appear to be booking any drivers, despite the middle of the road being solidly parked for at least two weeks (as well as all the roadside spaces).

The problem, said Pittwater Council’s Mark Erikkson, was that paint on the tarmac indicating a ban had completely faded and it would be hard to prove that holiday parkers were breaking the law. (The only faded sign visible was a broken line between the tree boxes).
As for signs, Mr. Eriksson said vandalism of signs was out of control in Avalon.
“We have lost at least 20 signs in the last year.”
However, Mr. Eriksson said a new solid white line was being painted to completely surround the median strip.
“The rangers tell me this constitutes a no parking area so people who park there from now on will be liable to parking tickets,” said Mr. Erikkson. “We might trial signs again at some point.”
Meanwhile the Avalon shops and cafés were undoubtedly pleased their customers were able to park and shop during this busiest time of the year for their businesses.
